Strengthening collaboration efforts to protect and promote women’s rights
Enhanced civil society engagement and collaboration with state mechanisms to respond to and mitigate sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and other issues of women in Mullaitivu District.
Outcome 1: Strengthened multi-stakeholder and multisectoral support systems and redress mechanisms to address SGBV and other issues faced by women. [Direct beneficiaries – 4,379 & indirect beneficiaries – 16,870]
Output 1.1 – 1. DCWDC stakeholders trained on Gender and SGBV, CEDAW convention, roles, and responsibility of DCWDC members.
- 2. Informal task force members identified and strengthened
- CSN members trained on gender and SGBV, basic counselling, existing laws on SGBV
- 4. Media personals trained on ethical reporting on SGBV related news.
- Village level awareness creation program held at 47 villages in PTK, Oddusuddan &
Thunukkai DS divisions.
Output 1.2: – 600 copies of Booklet published on contemporary legal processes for preventing and responding of sexual and gender-based violence in simplified language distributed in Mullaitivu district.
Output 1.3 – A study document produced on issues faced by girls and women with disabilities specifically focusing on availability and access to water and sanitation facilities in Puthukudiyiruppu DSD.
Output 1.4: – 06 numbers of person received of emergency assistance meant for the SGBV victims.
Outcome 2:
Emergency response support to vulnerable groups affected by COVID19 and measures to counter it and increased awareness about COVID19 through targeted risk communication. [Direct beneficiaries – 23,185 & indirect beneficiaries – 20,000]
Output 2.1 –
30 nos of packs of hygiene and cleaning items distributed in 03 districts (Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi & Jaffna) to Children, elders, and special needs homes. Direct and indirect beneficiaries approx. 3140 nos.
Output 2.2 –
Awareness raising, and risk communication related to COVID in partnership with local government officials. Awareness creation sessions held at Children’s & elders’ homes.
