First Aid Training Event Empowers Youth
On May 14, 2024, a first aid training session organized by the Centre For Child Development (CFCD), in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), was successfully conducted at the Divisional Secretariat Office Conference Hall in Kopay. A total of 68 youth participants attended this vital training, which aimed to equip them with life-saving skills.
The session followed the guidelines of the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society, ensuring that all the participants were trained to respond effectively to medical emergencies, ranging from CPR to wound care and injury management. Throughout the day, the young participants engaged in practical exercises, learning how to handle situations such as choking, bleeding, fractures, and burns.
By the end of the event, the participants gained confidence and valuable knowledge in first aid, ready to act swiftly in emergency situations within their communities. This training not only enhanced their practical skills but also fostered a sense of social responsibility, empowering them to become first responders in times of need.
This initiative, spearheaded by UNDP and CFCD, represents a crucial step toward building safer communities by empowering youth with critical first aid skills. The event’s success highlights the importance of continued efforts in preparing young people for emergency preparedness
