Capacity building training
Upon identification, a one-day training session was organized, covering career guidance and child protection for children, adolescents, and some youths. CFCD assigned two of its resources to conduct the training. Approximately 80 children attended the event enthusiastically. During the session, the children shared the issues obstructing their development and the problems threatening their safety. The adolescents and youths benefited from the career guidance, particularly in planning their future after the GCE O/l & A/ L examinations.
Although a children’s club was established, it was recognized that children alone may not be able to identify or find solutions to the challenges around them. As a result, it was decided to create an advisory group consisting of diverse representatives from the community. This group includes 12 members, including parents, youths, well-wishers, and other stakeholders, to provide guidance and support in addressing community issues. Since then, we have observed that the community advisory group and the children’s club together identified a few issues and problems and conveyed them through the children’s club to the CRPO and PO. These are the indicators that the mechanism is working in the expected direction.
CFCD organised an information-sharing session for the members of the Village level Child Development Committee (VCDC), parents, and youths at Manatkadu village. There were 38 participants actively involved. The following were discussed in detail.
