Case Story – Thayalini Kandiah
“If not for the constant and continuous support of Child First UK it would have been an imagination only of entering the University. The dream has almost come true with my securing the 52nd place in the District for Mathematics stream. I hope to do Physical Science in one of the universities soon. I am overjoyed and wish to attribute the success to the selfless and dedicated sponsors who supported for my studies for more than six years” says Thayalini with gratitude.
Thayalini Kandiah comes from a large farming family with two elder brothers and two younger sisters. Although they are from Delft islands originally the outbreak of violence made them to move out to safer locations like all the others in the peninsula which found Murasumoddai as another home. Farming could be greatly undertaken here in the environment to support adequately for the whole family. However, farmers depend on the seasonal rains as well as the natural weather conditions. There are times when things fail and the families have to suffer.
“Our family is not an exception and we came across many instants when the life would be really challenging. Two of my brothers have entered the universities already while the other three are continuing studies at schools. Lack of financial support made all of us feel the pinch of losing the interest in continuing education. But, we could see the light at the end of the tunnel through the unshaken determination of Child First UK to provide educational sponsorship to under privileged children like us. It has made us to break the big hurdle and come up in life. There are no words to express our happiness and the sincerity we feel towards this humanitarian support” thus Thayalini bursts away her feelings.
“I have filled the first form for the university admission but continue to study and sit the second time in August 2017 to see if there is more chance to secure some other important streams. Even if it does not work out I would be content and commence my undergraduate classes in the Physical Science soon. When I complete the degree and get a job I would be focused to provide assistance to at least one child in the community who deserves to continue education and prosper in life. This is the only thing I could do for a great service received by me from well-wishers unknown to me” says Thayalini amidst tears about to fall out from her eyes.
