Sajeetha Banu is very young lady living at Kovilkudiyiruppu, Chavakachcheri with her husband, and two children. She is a Muslim by birth displaced from Chavakachcheri in 1990 and stayed in a welfare camp in Puttalam. They resettled in 2002 with her parents and sister’s family. A house provided by Mosque the 3 families are living as extended family. Previously her husband didn’t support to them and they lived with the support of her father’s income. But the income was not enough to fulfil their basic requirements. So herself and her sister stared to stich clothes and earn LKR .10, 000 per month in their sister’s old machine.
CFCD selected Sajeetha as their one of the beneficiaries under enterprise development. She underwent 5 days business plan training and followed 2 days finance management and book keeping. She provided with LKR.137, 257 worth of livelihood support on 6th May 2020.
Her husband joined with them and stared to support her to purchase cloths in whole sale price, and support to get local market. As her husband has knowledge in accounts and participated in 5 days training, he supports her to maintain proper finance records to calculate profit and stock maintenance. She prepared masks and cloth bags during the Covid-19 context and could able to find 10 shops in Chavakachcheri. At present she prepare 50 bags, 100 masks, bags for school going children. She allocated a portion in her father’s shop and sale her products. She producing her products in 10 shops in Chavakachcheri and 10 shops in Jaffna. Her monthly income is LKR.40, 000.
She says:” I would be very thankful to CFCD and UNDP for the timely support without any discrimination “. Now I can stand in my own leg. My children are getting education with my contribution and i can support my parents as well”.
